Scenery is the continuation of Herr Müller’s theme “I like your bad breath daddy”, that is, the simple fact that origin and the contradictions resulting from this cannot be freely chosen. The construct of family here is only the most tangible manifestation of this reality.

Herr Müller turns sticky tape, foils and paper into collages which are then taken and further processed in a similar way to scans of photo negatives, in order then to expose/print the finished pictures as large-scale prints. The digital processing reinforces the characteristics of the material, the effects of plasticity. The result is a richly detailed, raw, almost pastose surface. The materials, in part burnt/melted, crumpled, wrinkled and layered on top of one another, intensify the nervous tension of the sceneries presented, the discomfort with the everyday that has got out of control.

Herr Müller was born in 1977 and lives in Berlin as an illustrator and graphic artist. His works have already been shown in a number of national and international exhibitions and have won numerous awards.
