Gallagher uses collage techniques to investigate the human character and its identity. By gathering image material from discarded books, forgotten editions of National Geographic and sometimes porn magazines, he creates sober and at the same time provocative scenes reflecting the world around him.
James Gallagher lives with his wife and three children in Brooklyn and is an artist, creative director and a lecturer at the Parsons New School for Design. His works are shown in numerous international exhibitions. His pictures have been published in magazines and newspapers such as Arkitip, Juxtapoz, Elephant, Cent, NYArts, Twill and Lines & Shapes, and can be seen in publications such as American Illustration and Communication Arts.
